Yosemite National Park is home to many waterfalls. The ideal time to see waterfalls is in the spring when most of the snow melts. Peak times are in May or June. By August, certain waterfalls (including Yosemite Falls) are often dry or a trickle. Yosemite Falls can be seen from a variety of locations across Yosemite Valley, particularly at Yosemite Village and Yosemite Valley Lodge. Bridalveil Fall and Ribbon Fall are often the first waterfalls you see when you enter Yosemite Valley.
The best time to stop here is when you are exiting Yosemite Valley. See magnificent views of El Capitan and Cathedral Rocks. When you are in the area of Sentinel Meadow, stop at Yosemite Chapel, Yosemite Valley, and Yosemite Valley Lodge for views of Yosemite Falls.
From Valley View, you can see Yosemite Valley rising over the Merced River. It is advisable to stop here on your way out of Yosemite Valley, as it is located along one-way Northside Drive. This popular panorama is located shortly after a view of Bridalveil Fall but before Pohono Bridge.
There is no shortage of activities all year round in Yosemite National Park. You can go birdwatching, hiking and walking in all seasons. Pack your camera or stencils to capture the stunning scenery in Yosemite. Biking and fishing are great in spring to fall and ice-skating is perfect in winter. In summer, cool down with a swim in the Merced River or go boating and rafting. And of course, if you decide to stay in the park, look up at the very dark night sky and revel in the stars.
Yosemite National Park is open all year and has distinct beauty each season. If you want to see waterfalls come in spring when the volumes of water are high due to melting ice. Summer is ideal for hiking. And autumn provides amateur photographers with nature in all its glory. If you prefer peace, you can also visit in the winter when the mountains are covered in snow.
